“3” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears, from her upcoming second greatest hits compilation, The Singles Collection. It was released as the lead single of the album on September 29, 2009 by Jive Records. The song was produced by Max Martin and Shellback while Spears was on tour in Sweden. “3″ is an uptempo dance song, that features a heavy bassline and has influences of electropop and rave. Lyrically, the track is about threesomes.

“3″ received positive critical appreciation. The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking many of the charts records. The song also reached number one on the Canadian Hot 100 and has reached top ten positions in Australia, France, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Music video

The music video was filmed on October 5 and October 6, 2009 in Los Angeles, California, directed by Diane Martel and choreographed by Tone & Rich. On October 15, 2009, a sneak peak of the video in images was released. A countdown including images and video previews was announced on her official website and the release date was revealed to be on October 30, 2009.

The video begins with Spears wearing a black dress at a vanity, putting Circus Fantasy on. During the first verse, Spears sings in a white background. There are also black and white scenes of her wearing a white leotard behind a foggy glass. She then appears wearing the leotard and glasses while surrounded by four female dancers wearing black outfits, hanging from a pole. In the chorus, she dances in front of a white wall with barcode-like light installations with six male dancers. There also scenes of her dancing provocatively with two male dancers.[16] At the bridge, there are intercut close-ups of her that end with a smirk. The video concludes with Spears dancing with the two male dancers and cuts to a close-up of her looking into the camera.

Daniel Kreps of Rolling Stone called the video “borderline tasteful” and compared the choreography and the simple backgrounds to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and added that while “it’s not Britney’s best, […] we haven’t seen her dancing with this much conviction since the In the Zone era.”

“Radar” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her fifth studio album Blackout. The song was recorded in late 2006 and was planned to be the fourth single of the album, but the release was cancelled. It was later included as a bonus track on her sixth studio album Circus and released on June 23, 2009 by Jive Records as the fourth and final single from the album. The lyrics of the song refer to an attraction between the protagonist and a man, while she wonders if he knows what she is feeling. Produced and co-written by Bloodshy & Avant and The Clutch, “Radar” is an electropop song with usage of sonar pulses and synths.

“Radar” received positive critical appreciation, with most reviewers calling it one of Blackout’s highlights. The song peaked at number eight on the Swedish Singles Chart in 2008 and reached number eighty-eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2009, becoming her twenty-second entry on the chart. In the music video, directed by Dave Meyers, Spears is an aristocratic woman, involved in a love triangle with two men, who are polo players.

Music video

The music video was filmed on May 27 and 28, 2009 at a private residence located just north of Santa Barbara, California, directed by Dave Meyers. In an interview, he told MTV that the music video was inspired by Madonna’s “Take a Bow”. He also wanted to experiment with the video and show a different side to Spears, “I thought, ‘It’s not the first single. Let’s be a little experimental and push to not have her around dancers,’ ” Meyers said. “I feel, I guess, that the videos are a chance for her to vocalize a sense of herself. The media tends to attack her, so I thought, ‘Let’s show the classy side of Britney and focus on a classy experience, very European-inspired.’ And she’s at the point in her career where I think this would be a nice step.” The video was officially released on July 2, 2009 on Spears’ official Vimeo account and website.

The video begins with Spears arriving at a polo club. She comes out from the car wearing a vest, jeans and sunglasses and starts singing while a man welcomes her. They walk past a barn, where another man wearing a wifebeater is sitting. They look at each other briefly and she starts to sing in a balcony, watching the second man with a pair of binoculars. At the end of the first chorus, the first man comes and puts a studded necklace around her neck, as a surprise gift. Until the end of the second chorus, we see scenes of Spears singing and watching the second man as he gets ready. When the bridge begins, Spears arrives at the match wearing a white dress and a large hat, a reference to a scene in the 1967 film adaptation of Anna Karenina. Spears looks at the second man and sings I got my eye on you, and I can’t let you get away. When the match ends, she leaves and the second man follows her. They flirt inside a hallway and leave. The first man notices her absence, walks into the hallway and sees her necklace on the floor. The video ends with Spears and the second man walking into the sunset.

Daniel Kreps of Rolling Stone called it “Spears’ weakest video, said the idea was unoriginal and compared it to a “a 30-second commercial for one of Spears’ perfumes”. OK! said it was “posh” and gave the video a positive review, and said it was a nice departure from her recent revealing videos.

“If U Seek Amy” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her sixth studio album. It was released on March 10, 2009 by Jive Records as the third single of the album. In the song, Spears is looking for a woman named Amy in a club, and although it appears to be about sex, it is actually about how society perceives her life. The track was co-written and produced by Max Martin, who also wrote previous hits for Spears’ first three albums.

“If U Seek Amy” was well received by the critics, most calling it one of the highlights the album. It is also known for its double entendre name, and caused controversy in English speaking countries. “If U Seek Amy” peaked at number nineteen in the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top twenty in twelve countries.

Filming for the video began on February 10, 2009, and was directed by Jake Nava, who previously worked with Spears for her 2004 music video “My Prerogative”. The music video premiered on March 12, 2009 on both Virgin Mobile‘s official website and Spears’s official websites.

The video starts with a news anchor saying the title of the song above a news banner that reads “Britney Spears song lyrics spell out obscenity in disguise,” a parody of an America’s Newsroom report by Megyn Kelly. It then skips to a house, in which a sex party is coming to an end. Spears gets up from the bed wearing a pair of bespoke red petal Christian Louboutin pumps and a black sleeveless top. She sings the first verse and looks out the window. As it ends, she picks down from the floor a pair of panties, recalling her personal struggles and the “Piece of Me” video. She dances with four male dancers in the first chorus. During the second chorus, she dances with four other female dancers dressed in cheerleading outfits, while all the guys are watching them dance. The screen fades to white and Britney begins to change into a conservative ’50s-style outfit including a Lacoste polo shirt, white skirt, and white heels. As the chorus begins again, she comes out of her bedroom. She walks down the stairs, with dancers surrounding her and a woman gives her a potholder, which she uses to pick up a pie.

She then gets out of the house and is joined by her seemingly conservative-looking husband and children, one of them dressed as Spears original outfit in the “…BOMT” video. . As they go down the walkway, they are surrounded by paparazzi, who have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. While the kids and husband wave, Spears smiles for the camera and blows a kiss. The video then ends with the news anchor saying, “It doesn’t make any sense, does it?”.

Rolling Stone called it “controversial” and that the clip “does not disappoint”. They describe the party on the video as “Eyes Wide Shut without the masks or creepy music”. MTV called it one of Spears’ best videos, listing all the references to her past videos.

“Womanizer” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her sixth studio album. It was released on September 26, 2008 by Jive Records as the first single of the album. The song, described by Spears as a girl anthem, recalls a womanizing man, while the protagonist of the song makes clear she knows who he really is. Produced and co-written by Nikesha Briscoe and Rafael Akinyemi of Atlanta-based production team, The Outsyders, the song is musically and up-beat electropop song.

The song received mixed reviews, with critics complimenting its hook and deeming it a “comeback single”. The song was a massive success, becoming Spears’s eighth number one single worldwide, and her first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 since her debut “BOMT”, almost 10 years prior. In addition, the song topped over 30 charts worldwide. “Womanizer” has become Spears’ biggest selling digital single in the US, selling over 2.8 million copies.

The music video, directed by Joseph Kahn, shows Spears chasing the womanizer and includes scenes of her naked in a steam room. It became a worldwide success after premiering online, with 80 million views since its release and won “Best Pop Video” at the MTV Video Music Awards.

“Break the Ice” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her fifth studio album, Blackout. It was released on March 28, 2008 by Jive Records as the third and final single of the album. The song’s lyrics are about the attraction between two people, and the introduction has a dual meaning, that serves also as an apology for being away from the music industry for so long. Written by Nate “Danja” Hills, Marcella “Ms. Lago” Araica, Keri Hilson, James Washington and produced by Danja, “Break the Ice” is an uptempo dance song with breathy vocals.

Contemporary critics appreciated the song, calling it one of the standout tracks in the album. “Break the Ice” reached number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play and reached the top twenty in eleven countries.

The animated music video was directed by Robert Hales and features Spears as a superwoman. “Break the Ice” has never been performed live, instead of a live performance on her tour, a video collage of her music videos was used as a video interlude.

Music video

Robert Hales directed Spears’ first animated music video. The music video premiered on the website BlackoutBall.com, a site designed to “serve as a virtual black tie premiere party” for the video. The video debuted on MTV’s Total Request Live on March 17, as well as various British music channels.

The video begins with an anime version of Spears, dressed as a superheroine, in the roofs of a futuristic city. As the first verse begins, she breaks into a research facility and battles with suited henchmen. Spears ends up gaining access to a highly secured laboratory and walks through aisles of clones held in liquid cocoons. She sees that one is a clone of her, kisses her and plants a bomb on the tank. Next, there is a wide shot of the building exploding, while Spears is jumping and “Victory” is depicted on the side of the structure. The video ends with the phrase, “to be continued…”.

“Piece of Me” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears, from her fifth studio album, Blackout. It was released on November 27, 2007 by Jive Records as the second single from the album. The self-manifesto song’s lyrics are a response to the constant media scrutiny and sensationalism of Spears’s private life. “Piece of Me” runs through a down-tempo dance beat, and highlights loud ’80s-influenced synth. Spears’s voice is heavily synthesized, and constantly shifts in pitch. Backing vocals are provided by Robyn.

“Piece of Me” received positive critical reviews for its electropop sound and instrospective lyrics and it is ranked at number 15 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of The 100 Best Songs of 2007. It became a big hit, peaking at number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100, inside the top ten in most other countries, and reaching number one in Ireland. It was also successful in clubs, reaching number one in various Dance Club Play charts, including those in the United States and Australia. It was also one of her most successful singles in the United Kingdom.

The music video featured Spears being photographed constantly by paparazzi and disguising herself in order to confuse them. The video won three awards at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

Music video

The music video was filmed on November 27 and November 28, 2007, at the exclusive Hollywood nightclub and restaurant, Social Hollywood. It was directed by Wayne Isham, who had previously worked with Spears in the international Pepsi commercial campaign in 2002. On November 30, 2007, the “Britney Spears Wants a Piece of You” contest was launched in which fans could make videos of “Piece of Me” themselves using MTV’s Video Remixer. The clips used images of Spears over the years, including interviews, red-carpet appearances and performances. MTV, Jive Records and Spears chose the winner, which aired on MTV’s Total Request Live on December 20. MTV premiered the video of “Piece of Me” on December 14. It currently holds a 4/5 rating on iTunes based on over 543 reviews as of August 25, 2008 and is also her best-selling music video. The video won Video Of The Year, Best Female Video, and Best Pop Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

The music video for “Piece of Me” follows a paparazzi theme. The clip begins with a group of paparazzi taking pictures outside a residential area. Spears exposes her bottom and wiggles it for all to see, while various blonde-haired girls (one of whom bears a deliberate resemblance to Los Angeles socialite Paris Hilton, one of Spears’s friend) are changing clothes, putting makeup on and playfully dancing. Spears shows up in front of a multi-colored, illuminated background wearing a brown-fur vest, black bra and destroyed jeans. Scenes with Spears tearing negative tabloid covers down and creating positive ones are interpolated in the video. Spears later joins the other girls who have changed into matching blonde-bob wigs, dark sunglasses, and black trench coats as they enter a car being hounded by paparazzi, a representation of Spears’ life. The girls make it to the party and exit the car in different clothes. Spears then holds up a magazine cover reading “It’s Britney, Bitch” and “Exceptional Earner.” Inside the party, a rogue paparazzi joins the girls in the bathroom, but Spears spots him at the end. The girls are seen back at the apartment watching an entertainment news program, in which the “Britney invasion” from earlier is reported. The final scene shows a close-up of Spears’ smirking.

“Gimme More” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her fifth studio album, Blackout. It was released on September 27, 2007 by Jive Records as the lead single of the album. The song was written during Spears’ second pregnancy. Its lyrics feature racy content, and although they appear to be about dance and sex, they are a reference to the media and public always wanting more of her. “Gimme More” is backed with breathy vocals and up-tempo urban beat.

“Gimme More” received mixed reviews, with critics complimenting the song’s beat but highly criticizing the opening line. The song topped the Canadian Hot 100, and reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Spears’ fourth highest-peaking single in the US. The single reached the top five in many international charts and has been certified double platinum in Canada.

The single’s accompanying stripper-inspired music video also received media attention, with Spears’ pole dancing being panned by critics. On the other hand, the video was considered an improvement on her highly criticized 2007 MTV Video Music Awards opening performance.

Music video

Directed by first time director Jake Sarfaty, the music video was shot in a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles on July 19 and August 7, 2007. Sarfaty was handpicked by Spears, and the video was shot in two days. The production “was purely Spears’ ‘concept and her vision’”. It is a stripper-inspired video to fit the song’s racy content. The video’s light systems change from black and white with aura-like blue and pink hues to full blown color. The camera’s position always moves out-of-beat, giving the video a “raw and edgy look”. Spears features a tattoo on her biceps and dresses in all black. She wears a leather vest, a studded belt and skimpy panties over ripped fishnet stockings. “Gimme More” is the second video in which Spears sports black hair. The vest that Spears wore was inspired by the Royal Jelly show in Hollywood, CA. The back-up dancers are performers from the show itself, who wore the same uniform as they do in the show. Spears was inspired after she attended the show a few weeks before the video shooting.

The video puts Spears in two roles: as a brunette pole-dancing in a stripper’s pole, and a blonde version sitting at the bar with friends seemingly watching the strip tease while gazing at a mysterious man. Around the middle of the video, the brunette Spears takes off her top and uses it to cover her breasts; she continues to pole-dance, flipping her hair and occasionally dancing in a mirror. The blonde Spears keeps an eye on the brunette which Entertainment Weekly describes as “giddily staring at ‘stripper Britney’”, while stunned at others inside the club and continues on laughing.

The music video had its exclusive premiere in the iTunes Store on October 5, 2007, before other outlets slated for an October 8 release. It currently holds a 2.5/5 rating based on over 3,100 reviews. The iTunes version of the video was rotating on MuchMusic and VH1 a few hours before its premiere on MTV. On October 8, 2007, it was posted on MTV’s official blog, and premiered in Total Request Live’s exclusive world premiere slot at 3:30 p.m. It debuted on TRL’s chart at number eight on October 9. “Gimme More” opened at number thirteen on MuchMusic’s Countdown on October 13, 2007, peaking at number four on December 1. Earlier in the month of July 2008, the Music Video for Gimme More was deleted off of Britney Spears’ Official Channel due to unknown reasons, it has since been added back to the popular website. The music video has received 56.0 Million views on Youtube!

“Someday (I Will Understand)” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her first EP, Chaotic. It was released on September 21, 2005, by Jive Records as the first and only single from the EP. Also in Japan it was released as an alone EP with 3 additional songs and a remix that also appeared on the Chaotic.

Music video

The music video for “Someday” premiered on the finale of Spears’s reality show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic. In the video, a pregnant Spears is found about her home on her bed and looking out onto her yard, which includes a statue of an angel and leaves falling from the trees. This was the first of Spears’ videos to be shot entirely in black-and-white. Spears said that the best word to describe the video was “simplicity”, and that both the song and video perfectly captured the point she had then reached in her life. The video was directed by Michael Haussman and produced by Nina Wong for Person Films.

The song was produced by Per Magnusson & David Kreuger, and is written in B Major Spears’ vocal range runs from G3 – D5, running nearly two octaves. The track is a classic example of a pop ballad about love and its symptoms, as Spears declares “sometimes I run, sometimes I hide, sometimes I’m scared of you.” The song appears as #5 on Now That’s What I Call Music 3. During her Onyx Hotel Tour in Miami, Britney starts to sing the chorus of “Sometimes” then claims that she never really liked the song.

As with her previous single “…BOMT”, “Sometimes” was also directed by Nigel Dick. Shot at Paradise Cove in Malibu, California, Spears watches her love interest from afar, who is played by model Chad Cole. As he plays with his dog on the sand, Spears is seen on a lookout, by the pier and on a picnic blanket wishing she was there with him. The video also includes dance scenes with Spears and several others on the pier adorned in white. This video portrayed Spears as the girl next door, unlike the Lolita image portrayed in “…BOMT”. The video was first shot in February 1999, but was delayed after she injured her left knee and needed surgery. After recuperating, it was filmed from April 9-10, 1999.

There are two edits of the video. One features mainly beauty shots during the first verse, the second edit features more dancing footage from on the pier. The radio edit of the song was used for the video, it shortens the intro and removes an instrumental bridge towards the end of the song.
