Britney Spears' Official "Stronger" Single Cover
“Stronger” is the third single from pop singer Britney Spears released from her second album during the fourth quarter of 2000.
The song was written and produced by frequent collaborators Max Martin and Rami in 1999. In this anthem, Spears sings about overcoming the difficulties of love as she proclaims she is “stronger than yesterday”. There is an allusion to “…BOMT”: “…my loneliness ain’t killing me no more”.
Music video
The music video for “Stronger” was directed by Joseph Kahn and shot at Van Nuys Airport from October 5-7, 2000. The entire concept was Spears’s idea.
Spears arrives at a party, only to find that her boyfriend has cheated on her with another woman. Between scenes of the man chasing after her at the gathering to try to get her back, are cuts of Spears dancing with an Emeco 1006 chair, similar to Janet Jackson’s “The Pleasure Principle” and “Miss You Much” dance sequences.
The second half of the video finds Spears driving away from the party in a classic Ford Mustang during a thunderstorm; however, before long, her car goes into a spin out, then stops on the very edge of the bridge. After recovering from the shock of it, she’s forced to continue walking on in the rain. Cuts of her dancing with a cane, transformed from the chair, are also included. The video ends with Britney walking across a bridge.
However, one portion of the video was replaced with another scene: In original showings of the video, during the beginning of the bridge, when Spears sings stronger than yesterday…, she is seen standing on the edge of the back of the silver prop chair as it spins. However, in later showings, this scene is cut and replaced with a close-up of Spears singing the lyric. The original does not even appear on the Greatest Hits: My Prerogative DVD released on November 9, 2004.
Joseph Kahn showed the ‘famous’ chair in his home during an episode of MTV’s Cribs. The video was featured on an episode of MTV’s “Making the Video.”
“Stronger” became yet another music video to retire on MTV’s TRL and has been one of her strongest selling on iTunes, with a 4/5 rating based on over 60 reviews.

The version referred here, with Britney spinning on top of the Emeco 1006 chair is the one I first watched, an remembered with fondness, hence my frustration finding out that never has been released on DVD. There was nothing comical or funny on that scene, i don’t understand the editing and would love to have the original version of the promo.
